OUR PRACTICES

“Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of Creation and of their land’s inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows. These farmers produce valuable goods, of course; but they also conserve soil, they conserve water, they conserve wildlife, they conserve open space, they conserve scenery.” – Wendell Berry

OUR PRACTICES: HOW WE RAISE OUR CATTLE

All our Angus-Red Wagyu crosses are raised on pasture with access to plenty of shade, free of hormones and unnecessary antibiotics. We eat the same beef we sell to our customers, so we take all aspects of herd health and nutrition very seriously!

Bass and Sandra Hyatt raise their cattle on lush, high-quality mountain pastures using a rotational grazing method that results in greater soil, plant, and animal health. A deep respect for the natural world is at the heart of the Hyatts’ farming practice; in fact, Seven Meadows Farm received the 2014 Environmental Stewardship Award from the NC Cattlemen’s Association. Cole Creek Farms continues this tradition of ethical and sustainable agriculture by finishing their American Wagyu on a combination of wide-open pastures, high-quality non-GMO feeds, and brewers’ grain. Our cattle never see a feedlot.
